Aleksey Evsikov has served as General Director of the British International School (BIS) since July 2026. Prior to this, he held the position of Deputy General Director of BIS from January 2021.

His professional journey with the British International School began in 2009, when he joined the organisation as a specialist. In 2010, he was appointed Executive Director. From 2013, Aleksey continued his professional career outside BIS, gaining extensive management and legal experience in major Russian and international organisations, including Russian Post, the Association of Banks of Russia, the Representative Office of a Swiss bank, and the Moscow Tax Revenue Centre. He also has experience in running his own business.

Since 2008, Aleksey has also been engaged in academic and teaching activities. At various stages of his career, he has taught at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University), the Russian State University of Justice, and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

In 2012, Aleksey was awarded a PhD-equivalent degree in Law (Candidate of Legal Sciences). Continuing to develop his management expertise, he earned an MBA in 2019 and an Executive MBA in 2025.

Aleksey also completed a professional retraining programme at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO in Coaching and Mentoring for the Development of Leaders, Top Teams and Organisations.

The combination of his extensive experience in education, management and legal practice, entrepreneurship, and academia enables Aleksey to take a comprehensive approach to the leadership and strategic development of the British International School.

Stuart Purves is an experienced, practising primary school teacher who joined British International School No. 4 in the south of Moscow in the spring of 2001. Stuart was a member of the British International School’s Senior Leadership Team for six years before being appointed Headteacher of School No. 1.

Ben Wright taught in both primary and secondary schools in New Zealand and Australia before joining the British International School in 2015 as a teacher at School No. 2. In 2025, he was appointed Headteacher of School No. 2. Ben earned a degree in Sport and Recreation while competing in basketball at national level in New Zealand. He subsequently moved into coaching before pursuing a career in education.

Tom English taught in Ireland before arriving at the British International School in 2010. He has taught English literature for all year groups from Years 7 to 13 covering the English National Curriculum for KS3, IGCSE. He became Headteacher of school 9 (secondary school) in the 2020/2021 academic year.

Olga Dmitrieva graduated with a Specialist degree in biology and chemistry from the Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute. Upon completing her second education, she became a teacher of the English language. Bringing a wealth of experience in teaching and leadership roles, Olga Dmitrieva joined the British International School in 2022.

Paul Beattie joined the British International School of Moscow midway through the 2025-2026 academic year. He brings a wealth of experience from his native Scotland, Venezuela, Malaysia and Russia, having worked in diverse educational settings. Paul developed a passion for education while completing his degree at the University of Edinburgh.

He is deeply committed to fostering a positive school culture and sense of community, with a keen interest in the science of learning, personalised learning journeys, and promoting staff and student agency. Paul is particularly passionate about developing pupils' voices and creating leadership opportunities for children beyond the classroom, empowering them to become active, confident learners and leaders.

Jon Christie joined the British International School in 2017 and became Headteacher of School 9 (EYFS & primary school) in 2025. He has extensive international experience, having previously worked in leading international schools in China, Myanmar and the United Kingdom. Jon holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), reflecting his expertise in educational leadership. He is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning at BIS 9 (EYFS & primary school) and to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students from all backgrounds.
