The British International School Moscow comprises two secondary schools. In the north School 7 provides education for students aged 11-16 (KS3 & KS4) and in the south, School 3 provides education for students aged 11-18 (KS3 & 4, IB Diploma programme for students aged 16-18)
The Curriculum is produced to fulfil the requirements of:
A full range of extra-curricular activities is provided to assist in the development of the full potential of the individual.
All students who have English as an Additional Language are tested upon entry to the School. Students who are in English as a Second Language and Additional Language classes are recommended to have additional language classes according to the linguistic difficulty of the subject. Such students will go into the main curriculum subjects when they are considered ready to be able to study academically in the English Language
KEY STAGE 3 (years 7-9)
The subjects taught are:
English, Mathematics, Science,
History, Geography,
Russian, a choice of French, German or Spanish,
Physical Education, Music, Drama, Information Technology, Art
KEY STAGE 4 (years 10 & 11)
All students follow courses in:
English Language, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages (French, German or Spanish), Russian, Physical Education
Other subjects are available -
Art & Design, Music, Business Studies, History, Geography, Sociology, Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Literature, Economics, Coordinated Science (Double Award), Combined Science (Single Award)
SIXTH FORM (years 12 & 13) - School 3 only
In the Sixth Form students either study within the BIS Moscow pre-IB programme and then the full IB Diploma programme, or immediately within the IB Diploma programme providing stduents have met the entry criteria.
