Spring Term Newsletter for Rosinka School

Dear Parents,

Special Events

A warm welcome to Rosinka School and another busy schedule for all our children! We have many special events planned including a visit by a celebrated international author and poet, Nick Toczek, who will be delighting our children with a selection of his poetry and his dynamic workshops! Nick will be with us in the week beginning the 8th February and all our children are very much looking forward to the visit.

Music

Our Music Programme continues to develop, with all our Year 3 children learning the ocarina and all year 4 – 6 children continuing to develop their skills whilst practicing the recorder.  Towards the end of the term our school choir will perform a medley of songs from “Joseph” and preparations for the Summer Key Stage 2 performance of “Annie” are well under way!  Key Stage 1is selecting a variety of Traditional Tales to perform, including Music and Dance.

Spring Term Curriculum Pamphlets

The curriculum pamphlets were distributed to all parents so that they have an overview of the learning objectives for this term. Thank you for your very positive response to this year’s new initiative.

Outdoor Pursuits

Rosinka continues its tradition in organizing a skiing trip to Switzerland during the February half term holiday. This year we have again invited children from School 2 to join in the fun. The group includes children from year 3 – 6, with a range of skiing ability from the beginner to the advanced! All are catered for with the excellent support of the instructors from Viamonde.  There will be an Outdoor Pursuits Presentation to celebrate our skiing adventure on Friday, 5th March. Please come along!

Reading Presentation

To continue our half termly “Curriculum Focus” there will be a presentation on developing reading skills. All parents are encouraged to attend.

Science Week

Our Science Week begins on Monday, 15th March and Mr. Greyling, our Science Co-ordinator, is in the process of confirming the week’s activities.

Finally, please be reminded that the school welcomes all parents to a weekly coffee morning every Monday at 09.30 and is very appreciative of the tremendous support we receive from the Friends of Rosinka School.
